Essay: Social Media, Don't Only Talk about Its Advantages

Hi, Fellas! Long time no see. Do you miss me? Haha. Just kidding!

Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, Line, Instagram, and etc. I bet you have used or at least known those things since they were invented. Without any explanation, I truly know you know what other people use to call them with. Social Media. It merely consists of two words and eleven letters, yet it has more than two words and eleven letters impacts on people’s daily lives. Those impacts have probably come to your mind, who read this, right now. However, don’t only think about the good effects. Good and bad are always hand in hand, you know. Without my writing about the good sides of Social Media, you’ve already recognized, realized, or even felt it at this moment when you read this essay. Because of that, in this essay, I want to spread my ideas about the negative effects of Social Media. At least, there are three bad impacts of Social Media to its users.
First of all, Social Media can grow laziness to its users, especially users who are not mature enough. I say so because when you are not mature enough, mostly, you are unable to think wisely. You cannot decide what things which are good and the things that are bad. Immature people mostly have same point of view: as long as the things they do are fun enough for them, they will keep doing it. You want to deny it? If you say, “Yes, I do.”, I want to tell you something further about it, then. I used to not having any Social Media things. But, one day, I intentionally try to “have a relationship” with Social Media. I made a twitter account because at that time, twitter was so booming. I actually didn’t have an intention to make a twitter account. It was my friend who try to force me to have it. I didn’t know why since I made it, I found out that twitter was exciting. I could interact with people I haven’t met before. It seemed as if the world became so narrow. The ecxitement of twitter for me continued for a long time until one day I found out I was totally addicted to twitter. It was my mom who told it first. Then, I tried to think about my mom’s say whether it was right or not. Unfortunately, it was right. I sometimes found out myself accidentally refreshing my twitter page until there was at least one interaction with other people. I also found out that I used to stalking my friends’ twitter account to know what they were doing, what they were talking about with other people, and etc. At that time, I felt like if I didn’t do those things, I didn’t feel satisfied. I felt like doing those things instead of studying or doing something useful was really important. When I realized it, I felt like a fool. I felt like I was as if a jobless people who didn’t have any other things to do except knowing other people’s things. It was so ridiculous. And you know what? It made me realize that while I was trying to find out others’s activities, I forgot my own activity. It was bad, you know. I’ve become a lazy person since I used twitter. I used to procrastinated important things for twitter’s sake. I used to be not doing my assignments well since I used to put things off. However, since I’ve been asking my mom to warn me if I want to open twitter so that I won’t open it too often than before, I’ve been feeling like I’ve been becoming more diligent (again) lately. I’ve been starting to be not procrastinanting anymore. Do you still want to deny my argumentation anymore?
The second bad effects is Social Media can lead us to fight with other people, even with our best friends. I often see it by my eyes. Usually, the fight starts by an allusion that can provoke someone’s, who feel offended by it, anger. After that, the person who feels ofended usually starts to show his anger towards the person who gives the allusion whether the allusion is addressed to him or not, as long as it offends him, he don’t care. Then, you know what happened next, don’t you? If the answer is they will have a twitter-war, you’re exactly right. You know what? By doing twitter-war, you don’t only have one adversary, yet you may have more than one since usually friend(s) will try to stick up with their friend(s) in any situations. As you can see, Social Media is a free place to show your ideas, your thoughts, you feelings, and etc. Yet one thing is for sure. Think before you write. If you cannot do that, it’s better for you not to use Social Media. Otherwise, you’ll get this bad effect.
The third bad thing about Social Media is this modern era thing can endanger the users. “What? It can endanger us? How come? Oh, c’mon! It’s a dead thing, you know. It hardly can endanger us!” If you think that way, you’d better shut up your mind and read this carefully. I have already seen many cases that show me Social Media can pose us threats. I want to tell you a case about this. There once a girl who met a guy on the Twitter. After having a three days interaction with that guy, it seemed like the girl had a crush on him. And so did the guy. After that first meeting, they kept interacting on the twitter, even they also texted, exchanged email, talked on the phone, and etc for a long time. One day, the boy asked the girl to meet up and the girl accepted his wish. In the next day, they met up. Unfortunately, this guy wasn’t a good guy. What happened next was the girl was raped by the boy. Fortunately, the guy who did the sexual harassment had been arrested by the police. It was horrible, wasn’t it? One message from me. Be careful in using Social Media. Don’t be easily to be deceived. Don’t be evil to other users.
All in all, Social Media has not only good effects but also at least 3 bad effects. Social Media can bring laziness, fights, and threats to its users. It’s better for you to know how to overcome those three bad effects before you use Social Media if you don’t want to get any troubles results from Social Media.

30 Day Blogging Challenge: Day-1

Day-1: Write some basic things about yourself

When I was born, my parents chose Sharfina as my name. Sharfina has a good meaning. It means clean, spotless. I’m a Y Generation. But, I won’t tell you my exact date of birth, hehe. Privacy. I have two siblings. Both of them are boys. Yeah, me and my mom are the only girls in my family.

I’m a senior high school student since I’m 16 years old right now. Talking about school, my favourite subject are mathematics, economy, and biology. I sometimes like literature; it merely happens when there’s writing task. Writing? Yes, writing story, writing essay, and etc; it’s not about writing poems. I can’t write poems.

Someday, I wanna be an economist, maybe. A mathematician? Probably yes. Nutritionist or doctor? I hope I can. Haha, too many dreams. I can’t decide which want that I wanna choose in the future.

Yap, that's enough, I think. Do you want more informations? Hmmm... Just tell me! And I’ll tell ya *Promotion* <-- just ignore that hahah!

Tentangnya

Tenagamu bak tendangan seribu kuda
Jasamu bak harga seribu emas murni
Doamu bak ayunan seribu tongkat sihir

Hati yang putih
Kasih sayangmu tak pernah lenyap dilahap waktu
Cintamu tak pernah hilang ditelan bumi
Pengorbananmu tak pernah bisa tertutup oleh apapun

Hati yang putih
Kepadamu aku harus berterima kasih
Kepadamu aku harus membalas budi
Kepadamu aku harus berbakti hingga aku dilahap tanah

Ah, sepanjang hayat dikandung badan
Hati yang putih adalah Ibuku

Essay: Becoming A Swimming Champion

In this globe, there are many sports which are very fun to do. Besides, those sports can bring us many advantages. We can be healthy, tough, and have a great body. Not only that, sports can also make money and popularity. Which sports can bring us wealth and popularity? Well, actually, every sport can make us wealthy and famous. But, as we can see, there are only some sports and their champions or top athletes which are famous in our daily life. What are they? They are football, basketball, tennis, volley, badminton, taekwondo, swimming, and et cetera. Let’s take swimming as our example. Swimming is a good, beneficial, and popular sport. This sport has a lot of famous and great athletes, such as Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Dana Vollmer, and et cetera. They were like shining stars on Olympics 2012. They had stunning performances. Their super ability and talent makes many people, especially those who like swimming, envy. How to be a swimming champion? I think, there are at least 3 ways to become a swimming champion.
Firstly, you have to do a lot of practice everyday. Because many people say that practice makes perfect. Practice results in perfection. I truly believe it. Why? Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, and Dana Vollmer have proved it.  As we can see on television and the internet, before they faced the Olympics 2012, they were practicing and working hard everyday without complaining. And the results? We can see it on the Olympics 2012. They got medals. They really had great performances. Everybody praised them. Everybody gave them thunderous applause. Even Dana Vollmer set a World Record.
The second way is being determined and sportive. Being a winner is not a piece of a cake. There are many obstacles which we have to cope with. Without determination and sportsmanship, we are nothing. Determination and sportsmanship is what any sports, especially swimming, all about. These virtues is really important for every athlete. I think all swimmers, which don’t shine brightly, are not poles apart with Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, and Dana Vollmer. They similarly have faced losings. In spite of their similarity, they also have a difference. Usually, those not-bright-swimmers let losings make them despair. On the contrary, Phelps, Lochte, and Vollmer don’t want any losings let them down. Even Phelps, Lochte, and Vollmer use those losings as their teachers to make them become better swimmers in the future. That’s why they can be champions in the end. Without any determination and sportsmanship, they can’t do that. Determination and sportsmanship have thought them not only to accept any losings sincerely, but also not to let any losings become their biggest fears and obstacles to obtain tons of winnings. This is why I say determination and sportsmanship is very essential.
Thirdly, be optimistic. Let’s take a look at Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, and Dana Vollmer. They have faced many losings and hard obstacles. I believe, at that time, if they were not optimistic enough, they wouldn’t be as great as they are right now. Why? Let’s see what usually occur in our daily life. I ever joined a swimming class when I was a 8th grader. My teacher asked me to swim in a two meters pool. At first, I was totally afraid. At that time, I thought, what happened if I can’t swim well? What happened if I can’t breath well? What happened if I get cramp? Will I sink? Will I die? Then, my teacher came to me and he seemed to know what was my problem. He told me that I had to think that I could do it. I had to say ‘I can do it!’ in my heart as much as I can. I did his advice while I was swimming in that two meters pool. What happened next? I could swim well in that two meters pool. I didn’t sink. I didn’t die. After that, my teacher told me that if you are optimistic, you can do anything. Because optimism can boost our self-confidence and self-motivation. You may think that swimming is an easy sport to do. But, actually, it’s not that easy. This is why I think if you want to be a great swimmer you have to be optimistic enough to have great self-confidence and self-motivation.
All in all, in order to become a swimming champion, we have to practice and work hard, be determined and sportive, and also be optimistic to boost our self-confidence and self-motivation. Those ways are very effective and beneficial. Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte and Dana Vollmer have proved that those ways can make them become champions. We can apply those ways not only for becoming a swimming champion, but also for becoming any other sports champion.
Hi, this is my own essay. Please, read and leave a comment!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      - Feen❤

Kamu dan Kopi

Kupandangi kopiku dalam diam, ragu
Kubiarkan asap putih yang mengepul dari bibir cangkir
Memenuhi hidung kecilku
Bersamaan dengan bayangmu yang menyesakkan otakku

Lama-lama aku tak tahan lagi
Menahan godaan yang disuguhkan kopi
Jemariku hendak menggapai si cangkir
Ketika kusadari kamu mirip kopi

Kamu dan Kopi
Mampu menyegarkan pikiranku
Mampu memuaskan hatiku
Mampu membuatku hangat

Kamu dan Kopi
Mampu membuatku tergoda
Mampu membuatku terpikat
Mampu membuatku candu

Kuberi tahu, ya
Kamu dan Kopi
Mampu membuatku mencinta
Pada tatap pertama

Nikmat

Jahat. Kejam. Itulah hidupku. Tiada hari tanpa cobaan. Tiada nikmat di setiap hariku. Memangnya Kau anggap aku ini apa? Udara kotor yang tak terlihat namun dibenci? Atau debu kecil yang tak pernah dihiraukan?

Hei! Pantaskah kita berpikiran atau berkata seperti itu? Tidak. Kenapa? Kamu masih bertanya? Kamu kemanakan otakmu?

Jadi, ubahlah jalan pikiranmu. Ingatlah bahwa tidak ada manusia yang hidup tanpa kenikmatan. Seburuk-buruknya nasibmu, kamu masih punya nikmat yang tidak perlu dicari. Nikmat itu melekat dan ada di dalam tubuhmu. Marilah kita bersyukur.
